Our Beginnings
In 2006, Steve and his team began work on his greatest invention, the GrateDrain System. The GrateDrain, along with GrateSump and GrateTrench, have changed the way basement drainage is being done. Steve pioneered the idea of closed drainage systems. He informed his local company in August 2006 that Pioneer Basement would only install closed drainage systems.
In late 2006, the Grate Products Contractor Network was founded to distribute quality basement drainage products and train Authorized Contractors throughout the world as to properly installing them. They manufactured and distributed this revolutionery drainage system to authorized contractors all across the country, from Cape Cod to Portland OR.

The birth of Wiseaire!
In 2018, a breakthrough occured in controlling excessive moisture in an indoor environment. Indoor air quality is an extremely important part of a healthy home, and high relative humidity and excessive moisture can be the cause of many health problems. Mold growth, dust mites and the ill effects brought by them can be harmful to the inhabitants’ respiratory systems, causing allergies, asthma and other conditions. The WiseAire Dehumidification and Air Filtration Systems were introduced to effectively help control humidity levels in basements and crawl spaces, removing musty odors and limiting mold growth. The Wiseaire will not only make the environment smell better, but it will enhance the indoor air quality in the whole home!
Today, Steve continues to help people make their basements and their home’s healthy. Steve has served as President of the National Association of Waterproofing & Structural Repair Contractors (NAWSRC) in 2000-2001 and President of the Basement Health Association (BHA) in 2010-2011 and was the Education Committee Chairman. With his leadership team, Steve is helping create a new and exciting industry which has the potential of improving the quality of life for millions of people through total basement health. Finally, all the service trades working in the basement environment will be talking and sharing to the benefit of all consumers.
